HAMLET-FREE SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Design a series of posters for the 61st Free Shakespeare in the Park performance of Hamlet.

Challenge

Visually communicate the interweaving of good and evil in human nature and the timeless tragedy in the play. Invite people in New York to get a free ticket and watch this classical play in a new and modern production.

Unique Solution

The design breaks away from the traditional Hamlet poster elements skull, crown and sword, instead utilizing

expressive typography 'hamlet' with the splitting bright and dark ghost shadows to reveal the inherent good and evil in complex human nature. The font used for title Hamlet combines the look of modern and traditional typefaces. These all communicate the message of which classical Shakespeare play Hamlet is contemporary and worth to be watched again in a modern environment.
